There aren’t too many people that we know that do not crave at least one cup of coffee a day. Whether it is in the morning, afternoon, or evening, it is a necessity that many people cannot live without. Since it is such an important part of peoples’ lives, we always try to tell people that they need to create a coffee station in their new kitchen.
The idea of a coffee station is to keep everything that is needed to make the perfect cup of coffee in that one space. You would no longer need to walk across the room for a coffee mug, then to the other side of the kitchen for the coffee, over to the cupboard for the sugar, and then finally reaching the coffeepot to make the coffee. We don’t know anyone who can successfully do that before their first cup of coffee in the morning!
Here is what your perfect coffee station will have:
Displayed Coffee Maker or Appliance Garage
The coffee maker will need to be on the countertop as the centerpiece of your coffee station, obviously. We understand that many people do not like to display their appliances all of the time. It is quite easy to create an appliance garage for the coffee station. We could help you find the perfect spot for the station and then create a functioning cabinet with a rolling door, so that your coffee maker can be hidden when it is not in use.
A Drawer for Mugs
We recommend that you install a deep drawer to hold all of your coffee mugs. The mug drawer can be lined with a nonslip liner so that none of your mugs slide around and get cracked. If you cannot find space for a drawer, then we recommend a cabinet to achieve the same results.
Storage for Accessories
If you are like many people, you have the infamous Keurig machine. You will need a place to store all of your favorite K-cups. We recommend that you either use a rack next to your coffee pot or a small drawer installed in your coffee station.
A Drawer for Utensils and Flavors
A smaller drawer can hold the sugar and spoons that you may need for that perfect cup. Include stir sticks or spoons, regular and flavored creamers, sugar, and whatever other accessories you like.
Think of Non-Coffee Drinkers
While we think it’s unheard of – you may have family members or friends who do not drink coffee, but they do drink tea or hot cocoa. Incorporate those items into this space as well. This will keep your new kitchen nice and organized.
A Custom Kitchen Needs to be Convenient
Once your coffee station is installed, you will be able to have that wonderful cup of coffee at any time of the day with very little work. You many even find that you are enjoying your coffee more than ever before!
